race-day checklist
Pre-flight
the night before
- Run the self-test
- …on the phone you'll drive with — every check green.
- Charge the phone. Pack a windshield mount + a charging cable (recording + GPS + screen-on drains fast).
- Install YAW to the home screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) so it runs full-screen.
set up once at the track
- Open Settings
- …confirm mph, and turn on auto-record + voice if you want hands-free.
- Mark the course: Mark course
- …drop a clipping point at each corner (do it parked or walking the track). This unlocks named-zone scoring + live callouts.
each session
- Mount the phone landscape, rigid. Tap Start.
- Hold the car DEAD STILL through calibration. If it won't settle, tap “Calibrate now anyway”.
- Roll out and drive ~5 seconds so GPS locks heading — wait for the “acquiring GPS” banner to clear.
- Auto-record on → just drive, runs save themselves. Off → tap Record before a run, Stop after.
- Glance at the slip confidence bar under the angle — green = trust it.
after / end of day
- Set your best run as ★ Benchmark, then Grade the others and check Corner bests.
- Back up everything: Runs
- …→ “Back up all runs” downloads a JSON. Do this before you leave.
if something's off
- Slip shows “—” → acquiring GPS, or you're under ~15 km/h (it's speed-gated).
- Held angle reads low → Settings, nudge ALPHA_SLIDE up toward 0.9995.
- Runs captured raw, so even if tuning's off, the slip can be recomputed later — the day isn't wasted.
